Another item that was included in our day trip with Visit UK Trips aside from Stonehenge was exploring Bath. Bath is a town set in the rolling countryside of southwest England, known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Unfortunately, we had to pay extra if we wanted to see the Roman Baths, and our tour guide was offering the ticket for £14 instead of the original price at the actual site, £16.50. If you purchase this ticket through the tour guide, you would also get to skip the line and therefore saves you time. I opted out from this option because I wanted to explore the city instead; therefore if you choose to not go to the Roman Baths, you were given free time from when we arrive to Bath until 3:45PM, the time we were to depart. The bus journey from Stonehenge to Bath only took less than an hour and I went on to do my own private tour with my friends.
The first thing we saw was Bath Abbey, an Anglican parish church and a former Benedictine monastery and a proto Co-cathedral in Bath. It was free to enter and there was no line up. I was obsessed with the ceilings so I took quite a long time being in the church and admiring the architecture.
We also got to see The Royal Crescent, which is a row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent. I was in awe when I saw the building because it was really cool to see how the building was curved like a circle (crescent); so my pictures do not do its justice!
At 3:45PM, we met with our tour group and they dropped us back at the University of Warwick Bus Interchange. The journey took around 3-4 hours to get back from Bath. I was glad we opted out from the Roman Baths because a lot of the people who saw them complaint that there were not enough time for them to see the rest of Bath. I hope to see the Roman Baths next time but I did fall in love with Bath a little bit. I loved every single buildings that I saw and it was somewhat hipster as well. The pubs were similar to the ones that are in Vancouver’s Gastown and people in Bath were polite and friendly. Even though it was a small town, it was very lovely.
