The North Cascades Escape

Being a Washington local, I decided to be a tourist in my own state and visited The North Cascades National Park. It was a 2-hour drive from where I reside, and every minute of the road trip was worth it. The view up to the park was unreal because I got to see beautiful mountains along the way. When I got closer to the Diablo Lake, snow started appearing on the roadside and it gave such a magical effect to the whole scenery.

The View Along the Road

Just about an hour and a half before entering the park, phone services and reception will disappear. In some parts of the park, there is reception, but it is pretty weak. But who needs to be on their phones when you are surrounded by such amazing views, right?

Ross Lake

Around 15 minutes before reaching the Diablo Lake Overlook, there is another must-see viewpoint at Ross Lake. You can easily park your car at the designated parkade nearby or on the side of the road where you can easily walk over to the lake. I was pretty happy with being able to enjoy the view of the lake by myself (and my boyfriend) and being able to take still-shots of the lake with the incredible reflections of the mountains on the waters. There are also restrooms located at the parking lot across the lake.

Diablo Lake Overlook

Driving forward from Ross Lake, you will reach the Diablo Lake Overlook on the left exit. This is an overlook you do not want to miss. Seeing the mountains and lake from this view was such a surreal moment to me because the scenery was incredibly picturesque. This place is ridiculously photogenic and I had a lot of fun filming and taking pictures of this overlook until my hands were completely frozen from the cold.

On Your Way Down

On the way back to the highway, you can also see other notable places for a quick snap. I saw a gorgeous frozen lake along the way and a tall waterfall in the middle of nowhere.
